Range Schedule Reminder

Some members are using both ranges on the same day. On other occasions members are using the rifle range while other members are using the pistol range. This is against our range rules and if the RCMP based out of Kamloops were to conduct a random inspection our certification could be revoked, which would mean the closure of the range. We do not want to lose our license.

Lower Range Schedules:

Odd Days - Rifle Range only

Even Days - Pistol Range only

Archery - Any day

Trap - Range is closed until further notice, see homepage for more details

Monday - Archery 5:00 pm onwards (phone Anita to confirm 250-457-1731)

Wednesday - Precision Rimfire 5:00 pm onwards

Signing In To The Range and Bringing Guests

1) Signing in when using the range is a RCMP range requirement.

2) Our club insurance won't cover someone who isn't signed in.

3) You can bring a guest(s) with you for ONE TIME ONLY.

4) Once a guest has been to the range that one time and wish to return, they need to purchase a membership.

https://www.southcariboosportsmen.com

Breaking the rules isn't an excuse and in future if the above observations are reported we will terminate that members card to the club permanently. Please take the above seriously. Ranges are under attack by all walks of government and any slip up of the rules gives them the opportunity to shut down our range. Please be mindful of the rules and regulations governing gun ranges across Canada and take an extra minute to sign in on the correct day and enjoy!

The South Cariboo Sportsmen Association offers shooters multiple shooting locations, multiple shooting props and targets ranging between 25 and 400 m!

This match will be run as a sanctioned, NRL22 match, that will focus on having shooters shoot off of improvised positions, barricades, tripods, prone and anything else that the modern marksman should be able to do.

Gear restrictions: no tripods for NRL22 stages (5 of them)
Estimated round count: 150 rounds maximum

Class explanations for signup: all class restrictions can be found on the NRL22 website. If you are confused, please contact us directly at bcprecisionrifle@gmail.com. RIMFIRE PRECISION SHOOTING
Starting This Wednesday, March 23 4:30 til Dusk
Rifle Range Director Joe Hunter is introducing
Precision Rimfire Shooting. A Rimfire course will
be setup out to 200 yards. Bring you .22 and
some ammo and learn a new shooting discipline.

RIMFIRE PRECISION SERIES-COURSE OF FIRE SAFETY

1. Always point your rifle in a safe direction. Never point a rifle at anything you don’t intend to shoot.

2. Always keep your rifle unloaded until ready to use. Treat all rifles as though they are loaded even if you believe otherwise.

3. Keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.

4. Know your target, what is in front of it and what is behind it.

5. Always wear proper eye and ear protection.

6. Never use alcohol or drugs while shooting.

Rifle Safety While at a Match

1. Chamber Flags are MANDATORY to ensure rifles are in a safe condition. SCSA will ensure that Chamber Flags are available.

2. SCSA competitions are always cold ranges. All rifles are to be unloaded, with magazines out and actions open and Chamber Flag inserted into Chamber. Do not remove Chamber Flag until directed by the Range Officer. Magazines inserted into rifle only when directed by the Range Officer. NOTE: Always wait for the Range Officer’s commands. Do not close bolt until on target.

3. During a stage any movement or barricade transition must be done with the action open and an empty chamber. The Semi Automatic shooter must engage the safety, and yell “safe” loud enough for the RO to hear with ear protection.

4. During position change in a stage, the 120 rule must always be adhered to. The 120 rule refers to only pointing the rifle within +/- 60 degrees of straight forward. There may be stages when a Range Officer reduces the 120 rule even more. Always follow directions and be aware of where you are pointing your rifle.

5. At end of stage, remove magazine, unload, verify chamber is empty, insert chamber flag before moving off the firing line with rifle muzzle pointed up. Note: Range officer will give commands.

6. Ground rifles in a rifle rack, or location that the Range Officer designates as a safe direction with a Chamber Flag inserted into rifle chamber. Note: Rifles with fixed tubular magazines are discouraged as they are more difficult to make safe. Range Officers will pay extra attention to shooters with tubular magazines. Consideration for keeping tubular magazine follower and spring separate from rifle when not in use.

Bring your rimfire for opening day. See what others are using. Give it a try and enjoy a new discipline.

TRAPSHOOTING is still active although time and day are undergoing changes as our days are rapidly getting shorter. Today, Tuesday 28 Sept we start at 5:30 PM. Next Tuesday, 5 Oct, also 5:30. Tuesday, 12 Oct, also 5:30.
After that, we will change to Saturday or Sunday afternoons, to be determined. Watch here, or Instagram, or Facebook for updates.
We have a good enthusiastic and active group right now and the intent is to continue into the fall until forced to pause due to weather. In the past we have continued on a weekly basis all through the winter, some years shot monthly, and a few years we halted shooting altogether for several months, so we’ll see how the current group feels as the weather changes.
